Shiffman has written a thought-provoking narrative that aims to pry open the intellects of those unaccustomed to looking beyond the surface of life. Combating the weightiness often attributed to metaphysics and mysticism with a lighthearted tone, he introduces spirituality in a non-preachy sort of way, using lively, fun-loving characters. Through the sometimes frivolous, decadent actions of the protagonists, he shows that spirituality is not synonymous with abstinence, gravity or piety. In short, The Cosmic Burrito is a mix of the profound and the absurd, the supernatural and the superficial.

Praises for The Cosmic Burrito:
Bonnie Toews, Author of "Treason and Triumph":
"One outstanding thing- the use of language is excellent, and the imagery is fresh and original... In a time filled with violence, The Cosmic Burrito is a beautiful story, a longing for something more than a trivial meaningless life. It's not meant to be read quickly. It needs to be savored and enjoyed."

Reader Reviews:
A cure for complacency . . .
Achieves a delicate balance of levity and gravity that makes the book book wholely entertaining and thoroughly thought-provoking. The writing is witty and engaging, the characters vibrant. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a love for words, as well as anyone who has ever searched for answers within or without.

I had such a good time reading this boo !!!
The Cosmic Burrito shows us not to just scratch the surface, but to dig in to the deeper meaning of it all.

This story is amusing, intriguing, interesting and fun.
The author uses puns, irony, curiosity, and that innate goodness that's in all of us to his advantage in order to tell his tale.
This book is not just a fun adventure with couple 20something dudes trying to figure out their own life; it's a key to the reader to unlock some of the questions they didn't even know they may need to ask.
I recommend this book for any open minded person but highly recommend it more for those who need it opened.

A Cosmic Journey
David Shiffman draws you into a new world like no other. The further you get into the book, the more the lines between fiction and reality become blurred. This book was a quick read and hard to put down. I became invested in these characters like I would new friends. Read the book and take the ride with Tosh and Crosby. Your outlook on life will be "cosmically altered".

Pure Escapism! (by Marino826)

What fun! I laughed out loud as the two journeyed across the US, wishing I was there with them each step of the way. Their views on God and Religion or the lack there of and the recurring theme of fate captivated me and made me look within myself. Not too deep where you're lost in philosophical thought but deep enough to make you question your own ideas. A must read for those who like to get away and laugh. The most fun I've had reading a book!!

Read this book slowly and savor the trip- a very good read!!

A fun, laugh-out loud, made me think kind of read (by Cassibean2)

Cosmic was a great read...I was able to get into the minds of the characters and enjoy their journey with them. The author subtly prods you to start thinking about loads of metaphyscial ideas..without being pushy... while entertaining you the entire way. I found myself laughing outloud multiple times and devoured the book in about 3 days. A must read for anyone who likes intelligent, adventurous reads with a twist of the bizaare.
